How to decorate the walls in the bedroom: 10 best eco-friendly materials

From the author: Good afternoon, dear reader. If you, like me, dedicate your vacation to renovations and searching for design ideas for decorating your bedroom, then we are on our way! Renovation is a serious and responsible matter, and in the case of a bedroom, it is also very personal. How to decorate the walls in the bedroom, what materials are best to use in order to comply with the principles of practicality, ease of installation and environmental friendliness?

Today I have prepared for you a selection of the 10 most common materials that will help you create a unique design. And you, based on your personal preferences, can choose the appropriate option.

Wallpaper

Wallpaper is a classic bedroom update that can give your room a fresh, updated look within a week, and the rich palette of colors and patterns provides plenty of stylistic options.

The secrets and rules for wallpapering are almost the same, so by looking on the Internet or using the advice of experienced craftsmen, you can do cosmetic repairs yourself. The main thing is not to forget about the ideal finishing surface of the wall and eliminate minor defects, cracks and stains.

When choosing, I advise you to pay attention to the environmental friendliness of the material, density, texture and performance quality such as water resistance.

Types of wallpaper suitable for the bedroom:

  • paper wallpapers provide a healthy microclimate, additional sound and heat insulation, and also allow air to pass through well, have a rich palette of colors and are quite affordable! The only “but”: if your bedroom is bright and sunny, then wallpaper with a bright pattern can quickly lose color. I advise you to pay attention to the photo wallpaper. Thanks to thoughtful design, you can visually increase the size of the room and give it a unique style. The possibilities of photo printing are so limitless that on the wall of your bedroom you can place reproductions of Dutch landscape painters and even your photo,
  • vinyl wallpapers have excellent performance qualities, but, alas, most types do not “breathe” well, and hard vinyl, which would be ideal for a bedroom, is expensive,
  • The most common option is non-woven wallpaper. Expensive, but worth the expense. Easy to stick and environmentally friendly, they will hide minor defects on the wall and uneven surfaces,
  • Textile and carpet wallpapers look great in the bedroom and give the interior a rich look, and the density allows you to highlight the heat and sound insulation properties. Such wallpaper requires attention and care, and when gluing you will need to take care of the ideal base of the wall,

Important: when purchasing, pay attention to the special impregnation in the composition; without it, the wallpaper will strongly attract dust.

  • You can find cork wallpaper based on wood veneer. Pleasant surface texture and naturalness, excellent heat and sound insulation properties make them in demand. Serpyanka-based wallpapers are undeservedly forgotten; they can easily compete with cork in naturalness.

The list of types of wallpaper does not end there; with each season, designers offer new options for how to decorate or how to design a recreation area. The list of interesting stylistic solutions includes glass wallpaper, liquid wallpaper, as well as interiors using linkrust wallpaper with a relief surface.

Choosing wall color for the bedroom

In the interior, color is created by walls, floors, and furniture. They must overlap or combine with each other. The tone of the furniture should match the color of the walls.

Up to five different colors can be combined within one room. The shade of the bedroom is chosen so that the walls are lighter than the furniture, and the furniture itself is darker than the floor.

White walls go well with both dark and light furniture. They will visually expand the bedroom and match any style.

Thanks to the ability to create a base for other colors and for its versatility, beige walls are very popular in bedrooms. They can be combined with all shades of purple, turquoise, blue, brown and gray.

Brown walls go well with light furniture. They do not require additional decoration and look original.

White furniture and gray patterns on the carpet in the bedroom can be combined with gray walls. But there is no need to overload the bedroom with such a shade.

If you have problems sleeping, the bedroom should be decorated in green. Its shades are suitable - olive and pistachio. Green goes well with beige, brown, gray colors, and white furniture.

Blue walls go well with light and dark furniture. This color calms, relaxes, and evokes positive emotions. But in insufficient lighting it causes weakness and fatigue. Therefore, it is advisable to make blue walls for sunny rooms.

Lilac walls go well with light furniture. This color is ideal for small bedrooms. Pairs well with milky, beige and pink colors.

Dark walls create a bold image and strong energy in the bedroom. Dark colors are suitable for large bedrooms with several windows.

Dye

Painting the walls in the bedroom is often considered an afterthought, although it has a number of significant advantages:

  • budget,
  • ease of coloring,
  • ideal for a home where little artists or animals live,
  • An excellent basis for the use of decorative elements in the room in the form of arches, niches and paintings.

There is only one minus: a layer of paint can be applied only after the ideal base of the wall has been created, without obvious defects.

When choosing paint, pay attention to whether it has a glossy or matte surface. For the bedroom it is better to use matte, as it does not create glare and is visually more pleasing. Playing with colors and light, as well as the ability to imagine, will help you create an interior, even with paint on the walls!

Important: refuse oil paint, it has a sharp specific smell, opt for water-based and acrylic paints; latex and water-dispersion paints are used less often.

Unusual ideas

The bedroom is a very intimate space. You should feel comfortable in this room, so where else if not here can you give free rein to your creativity. Unleash your creativity!

If you love to paint, don't be afraid to paint a brick wall. It could be rebellious graffiti or a delicate floral design on a rough wall.

If your hobby is photography, hang several photographs on the wall in black and white.

A decorative fireplace trimmed with brick looks great in the bedroom.

If you have bricked the wall opposite the headboard, feel free to hang the TV on it.

A brick wall can fit into almost any interior. It can serve as an independent decorative element or become an excellent background for your creativity. Imagine, experiment, and modern materials will help you implement your projects.

Plaster

Plaster has proven itself well as a decorative component when working with walls in the bedroom. With its help, you can create various interior styles, from minimalism to everyone’s favorite classics. By combining wall decoration with the design of arches and architectural elements, you can rightfully boast of good taste, a unique and durable composition. Despite the high cost of a plasterer's work, do not forget that you will receive an environmentally friendly and easy-to-clean surface.

Three plaster options are suitable for the bedroom:

  • Venetian, with small particles of marble,
  • textured, filled with mica and small pebbles,
  • structural with quartz particles, creating a mosaic effect on the walls.

How to use fabric for wall decoration

Decorating with fabric is one of the most stylish options. The work is considered difficult; it is impossible for one person to completely cope with pasting the wall. Correctly aligning or lifting the fabric can only be done when decorating a small area. The material can be stretched, secured with slats around the perimeter, glued, or draped.

You can decorate the wall with decorative panels framed with molding. The patchwork style design of the entire wall or just part of it at the head of the bed looks great. In addition, from the remnants of the same materials, you can make flowers that will complement and decorate the interior.

Textile

The atmosphere created by fabric trim deserves special attention. The design of a classic bedroom uses fabrics with embroidery, printing and various patterns; in tandem with them, strict and laconic colors are often used, sometimes plain fabrics.

Cotton and linen are used for finishing, with rare exceptions or as a separate decorative element - furniture fabrics.

Let's be honest, the difficulty of gluing and the need for careful care are serious disadvantages, and many people opt for fabric wallpaper only in order to achieve the stylistic effect of a classic interior.

Covering walls with fabric

Creating a fabric covering for bedroom walls is a long-forgotten option for decorating rooms, which is currently gaining popularity due to the opportunity to create a unique bedroom conducive to peace and tranquility. For more information about fabric finishing, watch this video:

Patterned fabrics and canvases with embroidery will allow you to maintain a classic interior in the room, airy plain walls are suitable for various modern styles.

The most acceptable option is to use linen and cotton fabrics. The disadvantage of fabric coverings is their ability to accumulate dust. To eliminate this drawback, you need to regularly vacuum the walls.

Decorative rock

A durable and beautiful decorative element in the home, including the bedroom. The natural analogue is worthy of attention, but for a city apartment the use of heavy stones is not a very good solution; it is better to pay attention to imitations of sandstone, granite, marble and other stones. They will allow you to create an interesting interior in eco-style and fit within the average budget.

Stone accents on arches, around doors, windows, on the TV wall and at the headboard of the bed are classic ways to use stone in a room.

Tip: combine decorative stone with paint and plaster, then your interior will not seem heavy.

Minimalist bedroom: how to decorate an empty wall

The minimalist style is simple and comfortable. The main thing here is comfort and plenty of free space. “Minimum decor and light shades in decoration” is the motto of such interiors.

In such interiors, free space is valued. However, you can’t leave an empty painted wall either.

To make the interior interesting, you can make decorative brickwork on one of the walls. Built-in shelving made from wooden slats will also look good. The main thing is to use a minimum of colors.

Wood paneling

Country style is increasingly found in the work of designers, so natural wood has every right to be considered as one of the materials worthy of attention.

The lining is made from natural wood. Usually these are pine, larch, spruce, oak, which look great and feel good in the interior of a modern apartment. Here are the advantages of wooden lining:

  • environmental friendliness and naturalness. A pleasant bonus is a pleasant aroma and the creation of an optimal microclimate for vacationers in the bedroom,
  • external data. Thanks to a large selection of wood species, trunk textures and wood palette, you can choose what you like,
  • ease of installation, durability and good insulation properties.

Tip: before installing lining in the bedroom, be sure to treat the wood with special pest repellents!

An economical option for budget renovation is the use of plastic lining with a texture and palette similar to wood, but for a bedroom this is not the best solution. Firstly, it doesn’t have the strength that its wooden counterpart offers, and secondly, it’s difficult to call it environmentally friendly, you’ll agree.

Which painting to choose for the bedroom?

First of all, we determine the future location of the painting in the bedroom. Owners try to fill the space at the head of the bed. The wall above the headboard always remains empty. When a picture appears on it, the overall appearance of the room will play differently.

I want to feel freshness in the bedroom.

When choosing paintings for the bedroom, pay attention to the interior of the room

Color scheme, furniture, other decorative items, theme - everything is important. The painting above the bed should fit harmoniously and complement the atmosphere of the room

Exceptions are works by famous artists. Whatever is depicted on the canvas, if it is a real work of art, it does not require compliance with the rules for selecting paintings for the bedroom. This canvas will fit successfully into any interior. But still, not everyone can afford to buy such a canvas, so we turn to simple large-circulation paintings

The wall above the headboard always remains empty.

They allow you not only to maintain a single style of the bedroom, but also to expand its atmosphere.

The designers have created their own classification, consisting of 5 types of paintings that can be hung above the bed, referring to the themes and their color scheme.

Picture-rhyme. The word “rhyme” makes it clear that we are talking about repetition. And rightly so, the rhyming picture above the bed tends to repeat the existing colors in the interior. The image can repeat other decorative elements. Due to the absolute combination with the room, such a canvas becomes almost invisible, and the room becomes more comfortable, and the place at the head of the bed does not seem empty. Accent painting

They play a major role in the bedroom, they concentrate attention with their exclusivity and bright elements. Accent paintings include one of the brightest colors available in the room, which allows them to fit harmoniously into the interior, even if the painting has an abstract design or a completely different theme. Picture-style

Such paintings are selected taking into account the style of the room in which they will decorate the walls. They allow you not only to maintain a single style of the bedroom, but also to expand its atmosphere. Let's say your bedroom is designed in the style of the 80s, it would be logical to choose a painting that reflects that time. If you are doing Russian folk stylization, then the canvas should reflect Russian folk motifs. Picture-theme. A painting belonging to this category determines the theme of the entire room. Let's say that you decide to decorate your bedroom in a strict masculine style, where gray and black colors predominate, and the furniture is made mainly of metal, then the theme will be simple - a man, so the image of a man will “fit in” perfectly. Mood paintings evoke certain sensations and feelings in a person. If you want to feel freshness in your bedroom, an image of snow-capped mountains is perfect. Do you want to feel the fresh air in the room? An excellent solution would be an image of a spring forest.

Laminate

Are you surprised? Yes, laminate is also used for finishing the walls in the bedroom, and not just for the floor. A modern interior involves creating incredible structures from laminate; the walls are not only beautiful thanks to a wide range of textures and color variations, but also durable.

Despite the fact that laminate is susceptible to sudden temperature changes and is afraid of moisture, it is easy to install and does not contain harmful fumes, which is very important in the case of a bedroom!

Tip: for walls you can use laminate of 21 or 31 resistance classes. Designed for rooms with little floor load, it is ideal for wall decoration.

Options for decorating bedroom walls

It is quite easy to determine how to decorate the walls in the bedroom by choosing the material for decoration. Options for decorating a bedroom can be very different.

And this variety depends on the purpose of the bedroom, since it can be used not only for sleeping, but also for relaxation during the day, as an office, living room and even as a playroom for small children.

Also, finishing options are classified depending on the finishing material used for these purposes, namely:

  • wallpaper;
  • painting;
  • plaster;
  • wall decoration with fabric;
  • decorative rock;
  • wooden lining;
  • laminate;
  • cork covering;
  • MDF panels;
  • wall panels made of soft materials.

An example of using an accent wall in a bedroom interior.
Also important when choosing a finishing material for bedroom walls is its practicality, environmental and fire safety.

The bedroom is a place where a person spends on average a third of his life; being there is associated with rest and the opportunity to gain strength for active activities during the remaining two-thirds of his life, therefore the materials in the bedroom should be safe and, if possible, made from natural materials as much as possible products.

The materials used must not only perform a decorative function, but also have a color scheme that matches the purpose of the space being created.

Cork covering

We have already talked about cork wallpaper and noted its excellent characteristics, and now we will focus on cork panels. Advantages inherent in this coating:

  • environmental friendliness and ease of care of the canvas - dust does not accumulate on the surface, which is important for the bedroom,
  • ease of installation and lightness of the material against the backdrop of excellent strength and wear resistance,
  • high insulating qualities.

Flaws? Alas, the main disadvantage of natural cork is its high price!

Stylistic choice

Why decorate a bedroom in one style? To avoid inappropriate confusion of the characteristic differences of each direction. Provence means lavender fields, which are easy to find on photo wallpapers, light painted wooden furniture and small floral prints on textiles. But rustic “country style” furniture will look ridiculous against the backdrop of elegant “palace” wallpaper under the ceiling with LED lighting in the fusion style.

  1. The fusion style itself is eclectic; it arose at the intersection of the classics of several modern trends. When choosing decor above the bed in the bedroom, various variations with original lighting are acceptable. You can leave plain walls, but think about the design of an accent wall, floor and ceiling.
  2. To complete the look of a bedroom in a historical style, be sure to choose appropriate wallpaper and furniture. In specialized catalogs they often indicate Baroque, Renaissance, Rococo or Empire style. You can make an average interior or exactly copy all the elements of how to decorate the walls in a palace bedroom. The only negative is that such furniture is expensive.
  3. There is nothing pretentious in a classic bedroom, but good taste and sense of style are important. You will need a bed made of solid wood and wallpaper in pastel colors with a discreet pattern.
  4. Minimalism is an excellent solution for those who are alien to any excesses. Everything here is simple and functional. Most often these are just white walls, but you can play with the texture, for example, choose wallpaper for painting.
  5. White wall color is most appropriate in Scandinavian minimalism. All that remains is to choose suitable furniture, for example, a bed from IKEA and some decor for the wall above the bed in the spirit of Scandinavian ethnic groups.
  6. Another option is Japanese minimalism, with its inherent Asian decor. To decorate the wall at the head of the bed, large hieroglyphs, wall paintings with a sakura branch, or a large painting with an elaborate geisha outfit are suitable.
  7. For those who like antiques, the retro style is suitable - so warm, familiar and elegant. It is easy to combine luxury and practicality, peace and dynamism here. The hardest thing is to choose wallpaper that would reflect the spirit of a bygone era.
  8. Romantic style is suitable for a girl’s room or a matrimonial bedroom. There is nothing difficult in choosing wallpaper with small flowers and sewing curtains with ruffles and ruffles. The main thing is not to overdo it with small patterns.
  9. A bedroom-office will suit a single man, which will undoubtedly be decorated with a leather Chesterfield sofa bed and wooden panels in the style of English classics.

MDF panels

Precisely MDF panels, and in no case chipboard! When choosing material for the bedroom, we rely on safe rest and sleep, and in the production of chipboard we use epoxy resins, which we obviously do not need. MDF material is more environmentally friendly, since the binder is taken from wood shavings, lignin is released as a result of heating and is safe for the human body.

The availability of the material and high imitation properties allow the use of MDF boards instead of expensive materials. What can fibreboard imitate? It can become an analogue of any type of wood and even stone, be of different colors, have a pronounced relief and texture. And all this can be purchased at an adequate price and easily installed in the apartment.

Several forms of MDF panels are used for walls:

  • tiled,
  • rack and pinion,
  • leafy.

Space above the bed in the bedroom: decor and design ideas

Wherever the resting place is located, the design of the wall above the bed in the bedroom plays an important role. It is best to choose one large element rather than overload the perception with small decor, but sometimes it is also appropriate.

TABLE

1. Painting Placement opposite the eyes or at the head of the head. The wider the bed, the larger the canvas format. A bright color accent or addition to the overall scheme. In the bedroom, a landscape and the theme of a naked female body are appropriate.
2. Photo wallpaper The theme is selected according to the style; for a modern bedroom, images on an urban theme, retro and country - nature and rural landscapes - are suitable.
3. Mirror, mirror wall Behind the bed is not very functional, but it will help fill the room with light and visually expand it. An alternative to carpets so as not to stain the wall at the head.
4. Installations, multi-level shelves The original decor can be made of plasterboard or wood. Small horizontal modules are the best place for glasses and a comb, a smartphone and a charger (near an outlet).
5. Decorative panels Many decisions on how to decorate an empty wall in a bedroom using panels and wall panels depend on the material and the idea of design style.
6. Contrasting wallpaper You can highlight a wide panel or decorate the entire wall behind the headboard to dilute the nondescript tone of the surface and set off luxurious furniture.
7. Textiles and soft panels A solution for an accent wall, used primarily in the bedroom. Compensates for a low headboard (its absence) in a podium-type bed, replaces carpets and large decor.
8. Vinyl stickers The finished design of the wall in the bedroom above the bed, the theme or plot composition is selected according to the general concept of interior design (birds, leaves).

You can hang a picture above the bed and illuminate it

An accent wall near the bed imitating a brick wall will perfectly complement the bedroom interior

A soft panel with gilding and rounded corners will add elegance and richness to the room

Design options for wall decoration:

  • one color for all walls, but a different texture, for example, painting brickwork to decorate a wall in a bedroom in a loft or urban style;
  • original wallpaper design - abstraction, geometry, ornament, large print, repeating rhythm of intricate lines;
  • decorative plaster or the “bare” effect of unplastered walls (concrete, stone, blocks, brick), an excellent solution for modern urban apartments;
  • decorating an accent wall with shelves for an exhibition display of hand-made products (knitted or sewn dolls, origami flowers and butterflies, feather birds, paper snowflakes, decoupage bottles in the form of flowerpots with leather flowers);
  • finishing with materials uncharacteristic for a bedroom - ceramic tiles, shells and sea pebbles, wooden blocks, foam cubes, etc.;
  • a collage, a rug in a patchwork style, a mosaic panel, plaster modeling - anything you want to decorate the wall above the bed with your own hands;
  • designer wallpaper or printout on a large-format industrial printer; you can process any photo, painting or picture on a computer in order to decorate your chosen surface instead of photo wallpaper;
  • unusual painting of walls or wallpapering diagonally;
  • own art gallery or exhibition of thematic photos in decorative frames.

Any option that I have long wanted to see in my personal space awaits implementation as in the photo.

Photo wallpaper near the bed will look very nice

Use graffiti or other modern solutions

Practical decor near the bed:

  • luminous names and pictures replacing sconces and auxiliary lighting;
  • corner multi-level shelves for placing souvenirs, books and small items;
  • shelves for indoor flowers;
  • compact furniture of small shapes mounted on the wall - glass shelves, consoles, mirrored dressing tables, cosmetic shelves and niches with a secret;
  • an interior clock with a large dial, or you can simply decorate it with “stopped” time, which resembles some happy moment;
  • an ordinary curtain made of the same fabric as the one at the window is a great way to decorate the entrance to the dressing room or hide defects in the walls until you get around to major renovations or expensive decor above the bed.

It is not necessary to select practical wall items to decorate the corner with the bed in the bedroom. Sometimes you want to arrange something that is dear to your heart or simply “pleasant to the eye.” These can be accessories that emphasize the style, for example, a large Chinese fan or a red dragon drawn with your own hand.

Use graffiti or other modern solutions. If you don't know how to draw, use stencil painting, aerosol spraying or other creative techniques. The decor is designed to create a special aura of the bedroom, as in the photo examples of our gallery.

Soft wall panels

One of the design trends is the use of soft wall panels in the recreation area. The panels decorate the head of the bed, are used as soft inserts in furniture, or make the basis for a dressing table or a large mirror. The style varies from strict classics and elaborate baroque to ultra-fashionable high-tech!

The panel consists of three layers: the first base layer is hard plastic or a wooden frame, the second layer is sound insulation or foam rubber and padding polyester, the third layer is the surface of the panel, which can be completely different: leather, eco-leather, any type of textile. As you understand, this design has excellent soundproofing qualities and can hide serious wall defects, if any.

Is this an expensive pleasure? Soft panels are usually made to order. Taking into account fittings and design development according to your individual wishes, the amount can be quite large, but it’s worth it!

Let's tell you a secret, on the Internet you can find master classes on creating soft panels with your own hands, so it makes sense to spend time and look for options that you can afford and can afford.

I advise you to pay attention to another trend in the design of soft wall panels - designs with a 3D effect. The uniqueness of the proposed textures is that you can choose an imitation of snakeskin, zebra, precious metals, or create unique visual effects.

Artificial stone finishing

Stone combines well with other materials.
The ability to decorate a bedroom with decorative stone allows you to create surfaces that imitate natural materials, but it is much lighter than its counterparts.

Decorative stone is best used with other finishing options, the combination with which will create comfort and coziness, as well as ensure normal rest during sleep.

You can decorate small areas of the bedroom with decorative stone, for example, frame windows and doors, make one wall in stone, for example, at the head of the room, create an imitation of a fireplace from decorative stone, and so on.

Stylish wall decoration in the bedroom

Of course, this is not the end of the options for decorating the walls in the bedroom; you can experiment and look for your own unique style. Sea pebbles and shells, corks from your favorite wine, picture frames, etc. can be used. For a child's bedroom, it would be an excellent option to use slate paint, so the child will be able to demonstrate his artistic talent to the maximum. Or a luminescent coating that is charged by sunlight and gives light patterns at night.

When choosing the style of your bedroom, take your time, look through the photos and selections offered by designers, pay attention to how to decorate and highlight the bedside area, what material is best to use. You shouldn’t stop at just one option; think about combinations of the most interesting materials you like. Don't forget that the main purpose of your bedroom is to relax and store personal belongings. If you try to fit a wardrobe or workplace into the sleeping area, you will deprive it of a peaceful aura that is conducive to sleep.

Features of the interior design in the bedroom

Bright, flashy colors are not appropriate in the bedroom. Since such finishing will only irritate, interfering with proper rest. When decorating, it is better to use light bed colors. Dark tones act as a companion.

If you want to choose an unusual color for the bedroom that will not spoil the overall feel of the room, go for a gray shade. This option looks extraordinary.

When designing the interior of a bedroom, you should adhere to the following rules:

  • Do not use bright flashy colors.
  • Give preference to calm, preferably light tones.
  • Use dark colors only as a complement to the main calm shade.
  • Use accent techniques to make the interior more stylish.
  • Take care of proper lighting.

Panels

Paneling has only recently entered the world of design, but has already won the sympathy of many people. To make the material, different raw materials are used: wood, glass, plastic, metal.

The 3D panels deserve special attention: a three-dimensional pattern, emphasized by local lamps, will add originality to the interior. Paneling is a quick and beautiful way to decorate walls.

Wall materials

After selecting the main color scheme, it is important to decide on the materials that will be used to decorate the walls.

Advice. To make the room more interesting and voluminous, it is better to use several texture options for the walls that will be combined with each other. This can be embossed wallpaper for painting and glossy surfaces, wooden panels and fabric wallpaper, a border of frescoes or stucco.

Option of materials for wall decoration:

  • Wallpaper made of paper, non-woven or fabric. There are no sudden changes in humidity in the bedroom, so there are no restrictions on the use of wallpaper. The main thing is that they are environmentally friendly and not too bright. A good option here would be silk or paper wallpaper.
  • Paint or murals. This coating goes well with wallpaper. Plain walls may seem too boring. They can be set off by stripes of wallpaper or paintings on the walls. Frescoes in the bedroom will bring space into the room and make it more original.
  • Panels made of leather, fabric or wood. They make the design of the walls more textured. The walls will look soft and delicate, which will add warmth. Wood will add a rustic touch. The leather or fabric will set you up for relaxation. The panels look ideal in combination with other design elements: wallpaper or frescoes.
  • Cork covering. It looks a bit like wood and also adds a rustic touch. But cork has two features: it has a soft, pleasant texture and good sound insulation. It will always be quiet in such a bedroom.
  • Mirrors. They expand space well, but they must be used with caution. Mirrors should be placed so that they do not reflect sleeping people.

Age orientation

The walls in a children's bedroom, for example, need to be decorated with safe and light material. It is unlikely that you will use frescoes and stucco as decoration.

An excellent option for a child would be to paint the walls: this will make it easier for you to zone the room. For example, the walls opposite the bed should be decorated in light colors, and in the play area you can use brighter colors or draw your favorite cartoon character.

Stucco molding

Stucco decor in the bedroom will do a great job of zoning and visually expanding the space. When decorating walls with stucco, you should remember some rules:

  • in small rooms, try to use such decor in minimal quantities, avoid columns and pilasters. Instead, decorate the room with moldings, cornices, and plaster lamps;
  • in medium-sized bedrooms, paired stucco elements, frames and bas-reliefs are used;
  • but in large rooms you can decorate the space with vertical individual elements, niches and arches.
