How to spray paint a ceiling

A spray gun can speed up painting. It has a large spray radius. The coating applies evenly and easily fits into recesses and crevices. In the case of a roller, they have to be painted over with a thin brush. It is also used to decorate ceiling plinths. However, the spray gun copes with them more effectively.

Working with a spray gun begins with adjusting the paint jet. A test shot on paper is needed. Next, 300 squares are processed per hour. This is the efficiency of professional finishers. In the hands of an amateur, a spray gun allows you to paint about 200 square meters in an hour.

Among the models of spray guns there are electric and mechanical. The latter are equipped with a pump and cost from 1,300 rubles. Electric spray guns cost at least 2,500.

The role of lighting in color selection

However, each person reacts differently to certain shades of colors. It depends on the type of character. In addition, the choice of color is influenced by the lighting and proportions of the room. A general recommendation is that when choosing a color for the ceiling, you need to take into account the natural lighting of the room.

Also its purpose, height, floor dimensions and location of the room relative to the cardinal points.

Artificial light from lamps distorts the color of the ceiling. For example, cream and light yellow appear dirty, and white also “turns yellow.” The difference between dark blue and black colors disappears. Blue becomes green, red becomes yellowish, and violet becomes purple.

Interaction

Creating a harmonious interior is not at all easy. To choose the right colors and adjust the space of the room, you need to have creative thinking, taste, and certain knowledge. Remember that the main thing when choosing a color is a sense of proportion! If you have it, it will be much easier to comprehend the basics of design art. And here in front of you is a plastered, plank or plasterboard ceiling: “What color should I paint it?”

Cold and light colors visually enlarge small rooms, for example, a bathroom. These colors can be: silver-gray, light blue and light green.

Stage 2. Getting rid of cracks, protruding seams and other defects

As we have already noted, even a perfectly “gray key” can be uneven. A perfectly cleaned ceiling can be just as uneven. Therefore, regardless of whether the ceiling is being prepared for painting with acrylic, oil or water-based paint, some effort should be made to ensure that the final result is at its best.

What are we doing:

  • we deepen the found cracks over the entire surface, be sure to prime and seal them with putty, if necessary, strengthen them with either self-adhesive tape or gauze, which is in any first aid kit, this action will not only make the surface smoother, but will also prevent the appearance of cracks in the future;
  • if we detect any irregularities, hillocks or unnecessary protrusions, we process them with a grinder, hammer drill or other tool;
  • if the ceiling is finished with plasterboard slabs, then it is necessary to treat not only the places of their joints, but also the places where the screws are attached; for this, the seams of the joints are deepened at an angle of 45 degrees to a depth of no more than 5 mm, and the resulting seams are sealed using a special putty;
  • To give a smooth surface in the places where the plasterboard slabs are attached, it is also recommended to seal the joints of the slabs with self-adhesive tape - sickle tape and clean the surface after drying with a sanding machine.

Three color combination

Current gradient: light ceiling, darker walls, dark floor

The living room, bedroom and any other room that uses different shades of the same color scheme looks harmonious and very traditional. If you are a fan of a measured lifestyle and you like the classics more than other styles, you can choose, for example, the color of dark chocolate for the floor, cocoa for the walls, and cream for the ceiling.

Stretching from dark to light brings harmony and peace. This combination is designed to balance and correctly distribute the load of all horizontal and vertical planes. To this it should be added that this combination of colors of walls, floors and ceilings is perfect for rooms of any type.

What colors are considered warm?

Red

If you paint the ceiling red, you will feel cheerful and in high spirits. Shades of red are more appropriate in a children's playroom, hallway, living room and kitchen.

And in the bedroom, a red ceiling will look rough and vulgar.

If the room is decorated in cool shades of colors, then a red ceiling will make it more comfortable and cozy. In addition, red color has a positive effect on the nervous system.

Orange

The color orange is associated with tasty and aromatic exotic fruits. Designers advise not to paint the ceiling pure orange, as it quickly becomes boring. It is better to choose bright orange or peach colors.

Shades of orange are perfect for painting the ceiling in the cold north side of the apartment.

Yellow

According to psychologists, a yellow ceiling is more suitable for active and determined people.

If the apartment is located in the northern part, then the yellow ceiling will give the impression that the rooms are sunny and “cheerful”. Although the color yellow irritates some people. It all depends on its specific shades.

Procedure for conducting electricity

All manipulations are carried out in accordance with the requirements of the created project. The distribution network connects electricity outside the boundaries of the site, and the connection within the allotment is made by the owner.

All work is carried out in several stages

It is important to follow all specifications once they are officially approved:

  1. connect electricity to the site before building the house;
  2. check the serviceability of all electrical appliances;
  3. draw up a document about the work performed;
  4. sign papers on electricity.

Energy can be connected underground and overhead. The latter option is considered more profitable - there is no need to carry out land work. The disadvantages include the possibility of damage to power lines when weather conditions worsen.

The underground option will require significant financial investments, time and physical effort. However, this method will maximize the safety of the equipment and protect it from the influence of environmental conditions.

You should not install electricity unless you have the appropriate permit.

Such actions may be considered illegal, which will lead to penalties. If illegal connections are detected, they will need to be dismantled. The area may be completely disconnected from electricity by RES employees.

The legislation provides for liability for unauthorized connection and unauthorized use of electrical resources:

  • individuals will have to pay a fine of 10,000 to 15,000 rubles;
  • heads of organizations pay from 30,000 to 80,000 rubles;
  • organizations may be required to pay a fine in the amount of 100,000 – 200,000 rubles.

If the owner illegally installed electricity on his property, then subsequently it will be problematic to formalize everything in accordance with the requirements of the law.

Recommendations for using colored ceilings in the interior

We bring to your attention ideas for creating colored ceilings using the most popular shades.

Pale Blue/Turquoise/Tiffany Blue

This is a stunning ceiling color choice for almost any room. If you paint the ceiling in your bedroom, bathroom or kitchen in one of these shades, you will fill even the most modest space with lightness and airiness.

In combination with a ceiling in a shade of blue, neutral decor and interior items will look especially good: white, beige, gray and wood tones.

Metallic

A shimmering ceiling will not only add sparkle to any room, but will also add depth due to its reflective qualities. The most popular metallic shades when painting ceilings are silver and gold. They will decorate any room in your home.

Thus, an ordinary bathroom (toilet) can look like a large jewelry box if you just hang brass lamps and paint the ceiling a golden hue. The same effect can be created in any room. The main thing is to carefully choose metallic touches and not overdo it with accessories.

Black

It's not the most obvious color choice for a ceiling, but a black or dark gray ceiling still has its advantages. Firstly, using a black ceiling can hide unwanted elements such as pipes or old beams. Secondly, black ceilings do not irritate the eyes, so they are often used in rest and relaxation rooms.

A black ceiling adds elegant drama to the style of a dining room or bedroom, especially if those spaces have moldings and crown molding. Against the background of a black ceiling, other black accents in the room become more noticeable. Also, a black ceiling works great as a contrast to the yellow and golden tones in the space.

Blue/Aqua

Just like black, a blue ceiling can add depth, drama and a certain regal grandeur to a room. The blue ceiling combines brilliantly with shades of white or gray walls.

Yellow

A yellow ceiling will create a bright, life-affirming atmosphere in any room. The warmth and energy of yellow will transform an ordinary space into an interesting one and literally filled with happiness. In a room with a yellow ceiling, the eyes will not get tired of the rest of the interior. You can enhance the perception of a yellow ceiling in combination with a dazzling white shade of other interior details or with several bright shades of other colors.

Colored ceiling with a pattern

The most daring design enthusiasts can afford not just a colored ceiling, but a ceiling with paintings, stripes or patterns on it. It's both stylish and urban at the same time. If you choose a stripe or geometric pattern, try to stick to the same color scheme of the room and its furnishings so as not to create unnecessary color chaos.

Basic rules, important nuances

The shades that we choose to decorate the kitchen or living room have a direct impact on our mood, well-being, and vitality. Therefore, it is preferable to decorate the walls using a calm, eye-pleasing color scheme. It is best to choose natural shades: blue, olive green, light green, beige, deep yellow, terracotta. If the walls in the bedroom, living room, hallway or kitchen are already painted in one color or another or wallpaper is pasted, the choice is small. The shade of the plasterboard ceiling should be harmoniously combined with the color of the walls and furniture.

Consider some nuances when choosing a shade:

  • poisonous shades are not the best solution for the ceiling;
  • a bright, voluminous pattern or ornament will look good in a spacious bedroom, but it cannot be used to decorate a cramped hallway or small kitchen;
  • by using the right combination of shades and textures, it will be possible to easily zone the space, for example, by using colored drywall;
  • if you can’t decide on a color, choose the same shade you used to paint the walls, only 1-2 shades lighter;
  • The walls in the hall, bedroom or hallway should be dressed in a darker and richer shade than the ceiling. This will eliminate the visual sensation of pressure. The only exception may be a bathroom or toilet, where you can safely decorate the walls and ceiling in the same color scheme.

If you want to brighten up a boring interior, do not decorate the walls, floor and ceiling using the same shade. However, a bright contrast can only be created in spacious rooms where there is no shortage of free space.
