In what areas is wood and stone decoration used?

Depending on the profile that is being decorated, one or another area of ​​application is selected. For example, an aluminum profile decorated with wood is excellent for making office partitions, as well as doors, window profiles and slopes.

Profiles for the furniture industry, also decorated with wood, are used in the manufacture of high-quality and relatively inexpensive furniture. Kitchen sets, for example, from which strength and durability are required and supplied to the consumer market, are often made from decorated profiles.

Metal thresholds are used when laying parquet or laminate flooring. They are also ideal when replacing wooden coverings with wood or ceramic tiles for making thresholds. And, of course, the thresholds, depending on the new floor covering, are decorated either as stone or as wood.

Products used in bathrooms, kitchens and living rooms are also designed to look like stone. Firstly, this way the items do not cost a lot of money, but are much cheaper for buyers who want to add fashion to their home or apartment, but do not want to pay too much. Secondly, products decorated to look like stone are much lighter, and breaking them will not be as painful as if you broke a real stone figurine or any other piece of furniture.

How is decorative coating applied?

Decorating like stone or wood, in short, is done in two stages - applying powder paint and then painting. But let’s still take a closer look at these stages of applying a decorative coating to a material or finished product.

1.First, you need to paint parts or objects using powder paint and wrap them in film with a pattern applied to the inside of the film.

2. The product or material is placed in a special heat chamber where access to oxygen is closed.

3. Decoration occurs under the influence of temperatures of almost 200 degrees Celsius.

This completes this difficult process. It is enough just to take out the product or material, which can be a whole siding panel or profiled sheet, and give it a few minutes to harden.

Decoration is mainly used on an industrial scale when special powder is applied to galvanized profiled steel, and then exposed to high temperatures. Thanks to this procedure, the range of products is significantly expanded, which is subsequently supplied to construction companies and stores and used for cladding the facades of buildings.

If you carry out the entire decorating process correctly, approaching it responsibly, then the resulting profiled galvanized steel will be completely identical to a panel or sheet made of natural wood, even the most expensive, valuable and impossible to produce species or natural stone. 1. Decorating with wood is important in the manufacture of profiles for the furniture industry . Corners and guides, load-bearing structures and shelves, elements of office partitions are harmoniously combined with the wooden components of the interior, and they are able to withstand heavy loads.
2. Metal thresholds for sealing joints are widely used when laying parquet, wooden boards, and laminate. They are no less relevant in places where wooden flooring is replaced by tiles made of natural stone or its ceramic imitation. In this case, the threshold can be chosen in either the color of wood or the color of stone.
3. Decorative painting to imitate stone allows you to obtain products for interior decoration of halls, bathrooms, and kitchens. Unlike natural materials, they have high strength and are light in weight, which is their undoubted advantage. Painting technology

The choice of coating composition depends on the required chemical resistance, wear resistance and type of base. Curing of powder paints for wood materials is divided into thermal (hybrid epoxy resin and polyester) and UV curing. Regardless of the method, powder coating of wood is a multi-stage technological process, the adherence to which will determine the quality and performance properties of the final product.

1. The wooden surface is cleaned and degreased. If necessary, the wood is sanded.
2. Powder coating is applied in a dry state, and the adhesion of the powder to the surface to be painted occurs due to electrostatic action. And since wood has poor electrical conductivity, an electrostatic composition is applied as the first layer through a thin sprayer.
3. At the third stage, paint is applied with a spray gun.
4. The wood is then placed in an oven to cure.

Oven for curing
In the thermal application method, the prepared wood is kept in an oven for 5-20 minutes at a temperature of about 130C. To increase efficiency and reduce time, UV curing is used. In this case, the wood is placed in an oven at 110C for 1-3 minutes, and then exposed to ultraviolet light for 15 seconds. Advantages of thermosetting coating:

• only one furnace system is needed (radiant heat);
• less time spent on applying liquid paints and varnishes;
• lower energy consumption compared to liquid painting.

The disadvantages of the thermosetting method include the fact that high gloss can only be achieved with a large layer thickness. This results in longer cycle times and higher costs. With UV curing it is easy to achieve very high surface hardness. The wood becomes chemically resistant and scratch resistant. At the same time, after painting with UV curing, recoating is impossible. If the integrity of the surface is damaged, repair is not practical. With UV curing, it is difficult to select the ordered tone and color.

Decorative layer application technology

Decorative painting to imitate wood or stone is carried out when working with a product that has already had a layer of powder paint applied to it. Decoration takes place in a special heating chamber, where, under the influence of high temperature, the coloring matter is absorbed by a layer of powder paint, which acts as a base primer.

Like standard powder painting of siding (metal siding) and corrugated sheeting, imitating wood and stone, the decor creates a coating that has a long service life, practically does not fade, and is not afraid of scratches and impacts. Before reaching its final form, the product goes through several processing and drying cycles in our workshops. If, for example, we are talking about a metal object, first it is freed from contamination, inspected and, if there are signs of rust, sent for mechanical cleaning. Next, the surface is degreased and phosphated with zinc salts to create a thin layer of slightly soluble film that increases resistance to water, alkalis, acids, etc. The powder is applied electrostatically, ensuring uniform coverage of all areas of the metal product, then, as a finishing procedure, baking is performed.

High strength characteristics, affordable cost and, in particular, mechanical stability under completely different operating conditions make powder painting indispensable for painting glass, ceramics, decorative stone, and MDF. You can order a coating for any materials that can withstand temperatures of 200 C.
