The function of abrasive paper in sanding wall surfaces
In the process of leveling the surfaces of walls and ceilings with putty material, paper abrasive is used as the main tool for final cleaning before applying paint or gluing wallpaper. To perform such work, you must have certain knowledge and skills.
Direction of movements when cleaning the surface
The wall leveling technology is carried out in several stages. First, a starting layer of putty is applied to the surface to eliminate large flaws in the plaster layer. Then, after it dries, a finishing ball of putty material is placed.
This is done in order to obtain perfectly flat planes.
But, no matter what skills the master possesses, as a result of such final cleaning, minor irregularities, as well as stains from the spatula, still remain on the surface. To get rid of these flaws, you will need to completely sand the last ball until you achieve the most even plane possible. Typically, such work is performed with paper abrasive or a special grouting mesh.
It is worth noting here that this process is done by hand or using special electric grinders.

The first video shows the first pass of putty on walls plastered according to the rules. A thick layer is not required, because... the plaster is done well, most of the unevenness and bark beetles are smoothed out. Use a spatula at an angle of approximately 45 degrees and “cut”.
Practice shows that it is faster and better to make two passes of putty in a circle in thin layers, instead of one, but in a thick layer. It is because of the thick application that sanding is required. Because It is impossible to apply thickly and equally over the entire area. The result of the first pass after drying is, in principle, not bad, but from afar. There are small “burrs” on the surface, which then had to be sanded off. But because the pursued goal is “not to skin”, we will do the following. Let's take it, and on the second pass we use a spray gun (in our case, a Beetle)... Next, watch the video of the second pass.
In principle, modern high-quality polymer-gypsum putty ensures almost perfect mixing of layers on the wall. But, there is nothing that could be done better and more economically in terms of time and health.
