Binders

The base, or binding mass of the paint, is polyacrylates in the form of an aqueous dispersion, which are considered film formers. Fillers

So, during the process of work, many people have a question about how to dissolve such compositions, because they are quite thick and dense. The most common solvent is water. It can be used if only because it is part of almost all acrylic paints.

Preliminary preparation

Unpainted surface:

Clean the surface from dust, dirt and efflorescence.
New concrete surfaces can be painted after one heating season, new plastered surfaces - after 1-2 months, new fiber cement boards - after 6 months. Glossy concrete surfaces (cement adhesive) should be sandblasted or steel brushed to create a profile suitable for painting. Heavily chalking and unstable surfaces must be cleared to a solid base mechanically or by washing with water under pressure. If the surface is damaged by fungus or mold, treat it with Sanatex “Universal” TEX sanitizing agent, following the appropriate instructions. Before application, prime the surface with Facade Primer “Profi” TEKS. Surface defects should be smoothed out using Façade Putty “Profi” TEKS. Durable concrete does not require priming. Previously painted surface:
Remove loose paint and plaster using sandblasting, hydro-sandblasting or a steel brush. Check the condition of the seams of concrete elements and eliminate defects. Possible cracks in steel reinforcement can be opened by scraping or a grinding machine with a disc and flange. Clean exposed metal from rust and protect it with appropriate material. If the surface is damaged by fungus or mold, treat it with Sanatex “Universal” TEX sanitizing agent, following the appropriate instructions. Wash the surface with detergent, then rinse thoroughly with water. Surface defects should be smoothed out using Façade Putty “Profi” TEKS. Heavily chalking surfaces must be cleared to a solid base. Weakly chalking and highly absorbent areas should be primed with Facade Primer “Profi” TEKS.

Coloring

Mix the paint thoroughly before use. Apply evenly in 2 layers. In the case of using white color or when partially filling the surface, to achieve optimal coverage, if necessary, apply paint in 3 layers, observing the recommended maximum paint consumption. To avoid differences in shade, use paint from the same batch. If necessary, it is allowed to dilute the paint with water up to 10% by volume for the first layer. To apply the finishing coat, dilute the paint to working viscosity by no more than 5%. It is recommended not to take breaks when painting a continuous surface; in places of “overlapping”, work using the “wet on wet” method. Work should be completed along architectural boundaries (at the corners of the building, under drainpipes, etc.).

Repair painting

Repair painting is done with the same paint or paint of the same type. See "Preliminary preparation".

Note

When using particularly rich shades or in the event of early rains, shiny areas formed by auxiliary substances may appear on the surface of the coating. Also, in case of violation of the technology and exposure of the painted surface, whitish efflorescence may appear on the surface.

Water-soluble surfactants can be removed with water in sufficient quantities, for example, independently after several heavy rains or by washing the surface with water. This will not have a negative impact on the quality of the dried coating.

If necessary, clean the coating no earlier than a month after painting by washing with water without using detergents.

With all its advantages, water-dispersion paint also has features that many would consider disadvantages:

  • The material can only be stored at room temperature (0...+30 °C). When overcooled, the dispersion deteriorates.
  • VDC should be applied at temperatures from +5°C and humidity up to 80%. In other conditions, the coating film will not form (in the cold it will crack, and in high humidity the paint simply will not dry).
  • Undried paint should be protected from precipitation for at least a day. In the first hours after application, rain will wash it away, and in the future it will shorten the service life of the coating.
  • When painting in the heat or exposed to sunlight, the dispersion dries too quickly. Stains and brush marks remain on the coating.
  • Water-dispersed coatings produce a thinner film than solvent-soluble ones. Because of this, the surface for their application must be prepared more carefully.

Water-based paints are much more expensive than others, but have a number of other advantages
